5 pm pick up from hotel and transfer to jetty for you sunset/ night River Cruise on Brunei River. Cruising by the world largest Malay Water Village locally called “ Kampong Ayer” which was once refer to as “Venice of the East” by early European explorer. Opppurtunity to See the Royal palace-Istana Nurul Iman and the legendary Island called “Jong Batu” from the river.
Brunei is blessed with abundance wildlife due to it mostly undisturbed rainforest like the matual mangrove forest that line along the Brunei river..A River cruise to the mangrove channels in the Brunei River will first encounter with the rare elusive Proboscis monkeys(Nasalis larvatus) , an endangered and protected species which only found in Borneo. In the Mangrove it is also common to see tree climbing Monitor lizard sleeping in tree branch! Follow by Mangrove yellow banded snake curling in branches( occasionally). Continue sunset cruise will reach the roosting place of migratory Egret, during the month of October to march, thousand of Chinese oriental Egret & buffalo Egret will be there, on other month not so much. After sunset, slow cruise with boatmen using search light to look for Baby crocodile that lined along the river bank. Guarantee to see at list one baby crocodile. During night cruise we can also see hundred of fire fly on the mangrove branch, some gather together light up the mangrove branch like lighted Christmas tree. Another flying wildlife that can be seem mot of the time is Borneo giant Flying Fox( Pteropus vampyrus)Their wingspan can reached 6 feet wide!
